The Morrissey that greets me in the doorway of his genteel Kensington abode is without his familiar voluminous D.H. Evans outsize shirt and beady accountrements. In a tight white jumper, he looks tremulously thin and the ultra-high pollen count is making him struggle for breath, in spite of which the front room he leads me into is crowded with flowers.
“Get rid of them? How can I,” he sighs, “they’re an extension of my body!”
